A large number of research schemes
funded by various national and international agencies such
as the Department of Science And Technology, Govt. of India;
Department of Environment, Govt. of India; University Grants
Commission; Indian national Science Academy, State Committee
on Science, Technology And Environment, Govt. of Kerala,
Indo-French Centre for Advanced Research have been undertaken
by the members of the faculty.
This Department has Five major areas of research.
These are
1) Developmental Biology,
2) Vertebrate and Invertebrate Molecular Endocrinology,
3) Ethology and Neurobiology,
4) Stress Physiology,
5) Molecular Taxonomy and Biodiversity.
The Department has an advanced division, Centre for Bioinformatics,
which offers M.Phil programme for post-graduates of Life
sciences and Technology students. This centre has great
potential and serves as an HRD centre generating trained
candidates for IT and BT industries.
